Although Trentino is a “small” region, from an oenological point of view it can be considered a veritable continent. There is such a wide variety of climatic areas, soils, grapes, cultivation methods, and production styles, which in some respects are unique, that Trentino is one of the richest and most complex wine-growing areas to describe and recount.
This diversity also characterizes the productive fabric made up of large cooperatives, where the concept of “unity is strength” is rooted in the history of the Trentino region, and small winegrowers who, with hard work and passion, enhance the province’s wine-growing identity. Not to mention the courageous private entrepreneurs who, for decades, have been promoting the name of Trentino wine in every corner of the globe.
The area under vine in the province of Trento in 2019 amounted to 10,211 hectares, 14% of which are vineyards above 500 meters above sea level.
Since the 1980s, the varietal composition of Trentino’s vineyards has undergone constant and profound changes in favor of white varieties, which currently account for 74% of the total area.
